Life has been a bit all-consuming as of late, forcing me to put both Ironsworn and Starforged stuff on hold. As things slow down a bit this summer, I plan on returning to the Space Between the Suns and finally start combining and editing Hob’s tale into a book of some sort.
I recently got a decent tablet and finally gave digital art a try. I did a brush, color, and lighting exercise of Hob and the blood-stained blade to try and get a handle of things. I haven’t really used color in a decade, haven’t painted since long before that, and have never in my life used a stylus. It’s primarily just been pencil and ink. So there’s a lot to learn, a lot to relearn, and definitely some things I’m having to unlearn in order to transition to the new/old medium.
I really liked where the contrast, lighting, and colors ended up though, so I thought I’d share. I’m excited to apply some of the lessons learned on future stuff that’s a little more intentional and less just clicking on random things to see what they do. Learning a new tool and discovering all the creative possibilities within a new medium is very fun, but it sure is time consuming.
